Iowa City’s Public Access Television Station, PATV, asked me to exhibit some work for their monthly event, PATV Underground.  My CAT SHOW went up on the first day of the Iowa ArtsFest, and displayed until the end of June. 

At the gig, Mustard-In-Law performed in the TV studio, in front of an audience, and live streaming on PATV’s YouTube channel.  We played with a green screen behind us, and brought an appropriate video to key in….

Holiday Party

Mustard-In-Law played our first out of town gig for a holiday get-together at Matthew Crowe’s house outside Indianola, Iowa.  Matt ordered up a hot slice with extra mustard, and specially requested that we do a two-hour set including the chef’s entire range of select dipping sauces. We were able to stretch our legs’ ears, and we thought it was the best thing we’ve done in front of other people. If you didn’t catch the whole thing in person, here’s the line-in audio. Warning: may cause enchanted brain syndrome, leaky dream sequence, or discrete bowel malfunction.

At 6pm on August 16, 2016, we hit record on the video camera and proceeded to film a battery of prepared visual stations without stopping the recording until the 30 minute mark. At 9pm, we arrived at the Governor’s Mansion and set up our sound equipment facing a blank wall. Using the projector on the camera, we splashed the recording from earlier onto the wall. All of the sound was improvised live while watching the film. The audience gathered behind us, able to see both the projection and what we were doing with our hands.

Pfff! Monument to The Noise

Mustard-In-Law “Grey Poupon for Bing Bong” appears on the compilation “Pfff! Monument to The Noise” from Italian web-label, MAV Records.  Besides being full of genuinely profound vaporized audio, the cool thing about this release is that it does have a special physical edition.  There is a USB dead drop in Collegno, Italy, which houses the files, free to access by any passer-by.
