Yesterday we discovered two new things: a HyVee somewhat near our place, and that the library has more Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes on VHS! You know, it’s true what they say - Jeremy Brett is the definitive Holmes.

Oatmeal-Chocolate-Almond Cookies

2 c. oats
1½ c. flour
½ c. cocoa
1½ t. baking soda
¼ t. salt
11/3 c. brown sugar
2 sticks butter, melted
1 lg egg
1 t. vanilla
½ t. almond extract
1/3 c. whole mlk
1 c. slivered almonds, toasted

Eggplant Parmesan …

On this, we kind of made it up as we went along. We cut the eggplant in to ¼ inch slices. Then we toasted some bread and mixed it with flour, sesame seeds, basil, garlic powder, pepper, etc. Then we dipped the eggplant in an eggwash with myzithra cheese and salt in it, then in the bread-flour mix, and then baked the slices at 375° for 25 minutes, flipped them over and put some sauce and some fresh mozzarella on top, and baked them for about another 10 minutes, until the cheese is nice and toasty and melty.

Just unbelievable.

Two yukon gold potatoes, a starfruit, two navel oranges, two clementines, some sugar snap peas, two croissants, dried basil, fresh mozzarella, two cans of soda, one eggplant, a jar of spaghetti sauce, two bags of cheddar beer chips, and some Hawes Wensleydale cheese.

Items from the sketchbook I just had to turn in as part of my portfolio for Basic Drawing. Maybe I will post other portfolio pieces? Maybe.

Home made crust covered in olive oil, chives, sesame seeds, a sauce made of blended pineapple salsa and creamy southwestern ranch dip, pea soup paste, marinaded carrots and broccoli, myzithra sheepsmilk cheese, and teeny bits of leftover party pack cheese!

I saw another dead crow this morning.

Two makes a coincidence?

Yesterday I saw a dead crow lying on the ground.

Today I left for school and forgot the oven was on, so I had to go back to shut it off. Because of this, I got to the bus stop at the exact right second to get on the bus.
